News and Events: There are things happening in the culinary world. We’ve got you plugged into a few items.

A BIG Deal. Hyperion and Disney interactive have announced that Food Network star, Sandra Lee has agreed to a five book deal that will include two cookbooks and two food themed novels. The first book (which will be a cookbook) is schedule for release in October of 2011. The second installment, an entertaining book is due out in November of this year.

A Top Chef’s Recipes In Your Kitchen. Top Chef All-Stars runner-up, Mike Isabella is hitting the cookbook market. His first effort, titled, Flavors from a Jersey Italian, is due out in the Fall of 2012. Everybody loves Mike. He was a fan favorite during his two appearances on the Bravo Network hit show. Da Capo Press will be publishing Mike’s book.

Waste Not, Want Not. The International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) has been busy handing out awards. In the Food Matters category, Jonathon Bloom’s, American Wasteland brings home the top honors. Jonathon’s book on the food waste epidemic will make you think twice before you fill up your fridge.
