I’m not sure what is so special about October 4th. But, something is. No less than sixteen cookbooks are slated for release that day. Coincidence? Maybe.

One of the highlights this week is the release of, The Family Meal: Home Cooking with Ferran Adria, This is a truly amazing cookbook. It has recipes and food photography that leaves most other books in the dust. This is a must have for any serious or semi-serious home chef. A great look at what the staff gets to eat at one of the worlds best restaurants, elBulli.

Also, this week marks a milestone of sorts for the eBook market. Julia Child’s culinary epic, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, Volume 1, is out for the Kindle. Since Julia was a pioneer in bringing cooking to TV, it’s only fitting that her 1961 classic helps usher in the digital age of cookbooks.
